Easy Homemade Donuts

1 tube of Pillsbury Grands Biscut dough
Canola Oil
Sugar, cinnamon, or frosting

Heat about 3 inches of oil in a big pan to about 325 degrees. Take biscuits out of tube and cut out a hole in the center. (save the hole for later). Place the donuts in the hot oil until puffed (about 3 minutes on each side). Carefully take out and put on a paper towel or drying rack. Put the holes in last (they only need about 1 minute). If you like cinnamon sugar donuts, combine cinnamon and sugar in a gallon sized storage bag. Place the donuts in while they are still warm and shake. If you like frosted or glazed donuts, warm up the frosting in the microwave until soft. Dip donuts and sprinkle if you would like! This recipe is great because it is so easy and awesome! I liked these donuts better than store bought! My mother found the recipe in a magazine and we had to try it! They were really fun to make too!

Tomato and Mozzarella Salad

1 ripe tomato
1 mozzarella ball
Salad dressing (of you choice)

Slice the tomato and the mozzarella. Place slices on a plate and drizzle with your favorite salad dressing (we recommend a raspberry vinaigrette). I think this recipe is great for patients with braces because it's not only healthy but the softness of the tomatoes and the mozzarella won't break any brackets.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

2 Slices of Bread
2 Tbsp Peanut Butter
2 Tbsp Jelly (of your choice)

Spread the peanut butter on one slice of bread, then spread the jelly on top of the peanut butter. Place the other slice of bread on top of the jelly and eat! This recipe is great when you have braces because when you bite into the sandwich it doesn't hurt your teeth. You also don't have to use any tools to clean your braces afterward. Just gargle with a little water and you will be just fine!

Twisty Soft Pretzels

3/4 cup warm water
1/2 envelope yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg beaten
Pinches of salt or cinnamon-sugar

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. In a small bowl, stir together warm water, yeast and sugar. In a large bowl, mix salt and flour. After 5 minutes, stir yeast mix into flour mix. With well-floured hands, shape dough into 6-inch rods, initials, animals or traditional pretzel twists. Brush them with the beaten egg and place on a greased cookie sheet. If desired, sprinkle them with extra salt or cinnamon-sugar. Bake for 12 minutes and let cool for 2-5 minutes before eating! This recipe is great for people with braces because it allows them to enjoy pretzels without the crunch of most store bought pretzels. It also allows you to get creative with the shapes you can make.
